I attempted to visit the Qompendium Time Capsule Series Exhibition hosted by Manystuff last night, but with a lovely detour (getting lost) near Friedrichstrasse, I got there when it closed. I did still manage to see all the work through the window though, and especially liked the word processor/printer with the work coming out of it. Manystuff selected artists to submit a piece for the exhibition that could be considered to be put into a time capsule. Photos via Flickr here.

The evening did get a whole lot better though, when I visited the Do You Read Me? magazine shop nearby as well. Definitely the best art and design magazine shop I’ve ever been to. Of course all the UK ones like CR/Eye/Baseline/Grafik/I-D/Wallpaper were all in there at import prices of about €10-€20, but there were some brilliant German/American/French/Swiss mags and a nice collection of books as well. Come January just before I leave Berlin, I think I will be paying it another visit to stock up!

    Hey,

We got on to your site while looking for things to check out while we’re in Berlin from the 29th of December til the 2nd of January. We’re a couple of graphic design students from Holland and wanted to check out a couple of exhibitions. We found this qompendium thingy but wanted to know more about it, we find the sites a bit messy. Hehe so dou you know where it is exactly? Is it on the Torstrasse 100 or is that just a workshop? Maybe you know some other exhibitions or anything else that is happening in that period? That would be awesome.
    Thanks

    Tanja and Dayna

    Hi there,

The Qompendium is a small exhibition and yes it’s on Torstrasse, number 100, easy to find. Artists were selected by Manystuff to do a piece of artwork that would be potentially put into a time capsule.

Check http://www.theartofberlin.com/index.php/directory for most exhibitions and check out the Do You Read Me? magazine shop that I went to near Torstrasse as well. Pick up a Time Out guide before you come as well, it’s been a great help.

Let me know what you end up doing.
